Lyrics

Written over the course of about a year as I listened to people share their stories about navigating through life. Attempting to learn how to recognize the patchwork needed every day as we seek healing for what we have gone through together and in our own personal walk.

LYRICS:

PATCHING THESE HOLES - Jeff Raught (written from about December 2019 - November 2020 but not in order)

Verse 1
Would you lend me a hand, could I hitch a ride
To familiar old stories, I need a good place to hide
Scars are just stitches
Try and sew up my heart.
A heart that just won’t seem to mend

Verse 2
I’m looking for a memory that I cannot find.
Tucked somewhere in the back of my mind
Did it slip through my fingers or did I let go?
Maybe I’ll never know

CHORUS
Patching these holes, so many holes.
Caverns and hollows and rabbit trails to follow
Remind me of where I have been.
Does the empty, Ever fill up again?

Verse
Where do I draw the line?
Cuz I’m running out of time
Do I turn over stones
Or just leave em’ alone?
Will there be any answers
I guess nobody can say
Still I will go looking anyway

REPEAT CHORUS
Bridge
A worn out musician with a handful of dreams
A pocket of discarded old songs
Dreams are disappearing fast as they come around
I see the dust in the last place
That I laid them down

Instrumental

CHORUS
Patching these holes, so many holes.
Caverns and hollows and rabbit trails to follow
Remind me of where I have been.
Does the empty, Ever fill up again?
Maybe the empty, is gonna fill up again.
